The 4th of May 1893, a very important date! Does anyone know why? I’ll give you a clue…
“Welcome to my house! Enter freely. Go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring.”
… obviously, it’s exactly 125 years ago today that Jonathan Harker arrived at Castle Dracula!!
Because of this, I thought I would crochet up something extra special. Those who follow me on the Crafty Book Hunter Instagram will be well aware how much I love Bram Stoker so I could not miss the opportunity to make my very own Dracula! (Although mine is a little cuter if I do say so myself…)
I followed the pattern by Amigurumi Guru at https://amigurumiguru.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/vampire-amigurumi.pdf
This pattern is excellent and very easy to follow so I would definitely recommend anyone following this who would like to make their very own Dracula.
Do be aware, however, that I did adapt the pattern. The pattern states to use yarn for a 2.5mm hook to make quite a small amigurumi toy. In true CBH style, I decided to up the antics and use yarn for a 7mm hook. The only thing I didn’t take into account with this was just how GIANT his head would turn out to be….oops. Well, on the upside, you can’t miss him I suppose!
Using a 7mm hook, I ended up getting through roughly 3 x 50g black yarn, 1 x 50g red yarn, and 2 x 50g cream yarn. As usual, I used my favourite yarn ‘Drops Eskimo’.
I hope you all like my mini Dracula…
